Early Years Program (EYP)

The Early Years Program at Himalayan Whitehouse School is crafted to offer a nurturing and engaging environment for children aged 2.5 to 6 years. This program emphasizes the holistic development of each child, fostering a love for learning and laying a strong foundation for their future education.

Activities

1. Circle Time: This involves gathering as a group to sing songs, perform fingerplays, and share stories or show and tell. 

2. Arts and Crafts: Children engage in various art activities such as painting, drawing, collage-making, and working with different types of craft materials. 

3. Outdoor Play: Kids have opportunities for unstructured play on playgrounds, where they can run, climb, swing, and engage in gross motor activities. 

4. Storytime: Teachers read aloud to the children and engage them in discussions about the story, promoting early literacy skills and language development 

5. Sensory Play: This involves activities that stimulate the senses through touching, smelling, and exploring different textures, materials, or substances like sand, water, or playdough. 

6. Dramatic Play: Children engage in pretend play, using props and costumes to act out different roles or scenarios, promoting social and emotional development. 

7. Music and Movement: Kids participate in music and movement activities such as dancing, singing, and playing musical instruments, fostering creativity and coordination. 

8. Science Experiments: Teachers guide children through simple science experiments, exposing them to basic scientific concepts and encouraging curiosity and problem-solving skills. 9. Math Activities: Children engage in hands-on activities that introduce early math concepts such as counting, sorting, categorizing, and basic shapes. 

10. Fine Motor Activities: Kids practice developing fine motor skills through activities like threading beads, using scissors, and manipulating small objects. 

11. Gross Motor Activities: This involves activities that promote physical development and coordination, such as playing parachute games, throwing and catching balls, or balance exercises. 

12. Cooking or Baking: Children help with simple cooking or baking activities, learning about measurements, following instructions, and developing fine motor skills. 

13. Nature Exploration: Preschoolers are taken on nature walks, where they can observe and learn about plants, animals, and their environment.
